Abstract
We present HST imaging polarimetry of Titan between 330nm and 2000nm. A strong limb polarization of about 2 - 7 % is detected in all filters with a position angle perpendicular to the limb. The polarization seems to be equally strong along the entire limb. We determine the spectral dependence of the limb polarization and compare our results with spacecraft observations of the polarization measured at large phase angle ( 90 degrees). Based on these data and model calculations we investigate the polarimetric properties of the scattering haze particles in Titan’s atmosphere.
